If I put in Bluetooth hearing aids after using AirPods, will my hearing aids connect seamlessly?

I have connected my new air pods to bluetooth and they show up on my phone and I can hear my Audible books now. The question is, since I also have bluetooth hearing aids which are also connected to my phone on bluetooth. When II remove my air pods, will the hearing aids take over the sound of the book unless I stop it?
