Safari is better, by far.

IMHO, it's a Toss Up:
The difference that I see is that Safari is proprietary for Apple. Google Chrome is for Apple and PCs. When using Apple sites (such as these forums), you're more likely to get a better change of successful use. Being Chrome is for PCs, I find that being more vulnerable to cyberattacks. However, many sites (i.e. colleges and banks) do no allow use of Safari.

You are most welcome.
And to add, you need to use Safari to install Apple updates. You cannot use Google Chrome to install Apple updates.
Better still...
Might try this, it's Chrome Browser without google & without Ads...

Use of App Store for Updates:
Aside from using the App Store for macOS updates, when you need download updates for various items (i.e. printer drivers), then do so though use of Safari, going Apple-for-Apple. And when you download third-party updates, get them from the hardware manufacturer or software developer's site -- and none other -- as a way to avoid scams and such.
