Macbook Pro screen goes black randomly when not plugged in to charge.

And it's never because of a low battery. It's as if it goes to sleep and nothing makes it come back on unless I plug it in to charge.


I do have a "service battery" notification but first I want to check if the problems are related...

They are. Service Battery indicates the reading you have for the battery is not to be counted on. Get the battery replaced.
