Hello Sewingwithprojector,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand you're looking to wirelessly connect with a projector to display the screen, right?

If we have that correctly, this can be an option; however, it depends on the projector that you're using. We would recommend confirming the compatibility of the projector you're using, along with the capabilities to wirelessly pair with the manufacturer.

As for connecting the projector, you may need to use Bluetooth on your MacBook Air; however, the following steps may help as well. You can locate additional details on this here: Connect a display, TV, or projector to Mac - Apple Support

Connect wirelessly

You can wirelessly connect your Mac to devices, such as another Mac and certain smart TVs, and use them as displays.

1. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Displays  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)

2. Click the Add Display pop-up menu on the right (below the name of your Mac), then choose your display.

If those steps don't help, you can try using Bluetooth as shown here: Connect a Bluetooth device with your Mac - Apple Support

Connect a Bluetooth device

1. Make sure the device is turned on and discoverable (see the device’s documentation for details).

2. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Bluetooth  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)

3. Hold the pointer over the device in the list, then click Connect.

If asked, click Accept (or enter a series of numbers, then press Enter).
You can also connect a Bluetooth device to your Mac by clicking the Bluetooth status icon  in the menu bar and choosing the device. If the icon isn’t shown in the menu bar, you can add it using Control Center settings.

Lastly, you may need to use a cable to connect the projector if it doesn't support the wireless capability. For details on this to help out, take a look here: Use an external display with your MacBook Air - Apple Support

Have a great day!
