What is "Jamf Connect" and do I have to have it?

Reminding everyone I am now a techno-impaired senior.

With "encouragement" from my supervisor, I have given up my beloved 2014 11" MacBook for a new M2 13". This "Jamf Connect", for me, has shown up like an unwanted relative. Tried understanding it and seems like it has something to do with Apple Security.

  1. True?
  2. Do I need it?
  3. Can I uninstall it?

It keeps telling me my MacBook password does not match it. I have a nice simple password and I like it. The new password wants my deoxyribonucleic acid, plus first born's middle name.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

MacBook Air, macOS 13.0

If your Mac is managed / bound to your work/Enterprise/JAMF/MDM environment— then yes you need it, and would be out of your control...

Talk to your IT depart or Supervisor for clarification if in doubt.

Configuration profiles are created/pushed to production machines...

Use configuration profiles to standardize settings on Mac ...
