iOS - Google Search Window Disappears Behind Safari Address Bar

After the latest iOS update version 16.1 (20B82), when I use Safari to access Google, as soon as I tap into the search window, the search window disappears behind the Safari address bar at the top of the screen, so I can’t see what I’m typing. Seems like a bug, because it did not use to do this. Is any one else having this problem?

iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 16

My iPhone 14 pro does not have landscape bar toggle in safari settings that I could see. Also, changing font size using Aa or in general iPhone display settings didn’t work. I think what is causing the issue for me at least is having my iPhone display zoom settings set to “larger text” rather than “default”. Changing this is the only thing that works for me but I’m not going to keep it that way cause I need the zoomed in setting. For now I’ve found the least annoying way to deal with it is to click the very top of the screen to “scroll up” and reveal the text box.

Mine has reverted back to hiding the search bar again. Definitely horrible design. I’m starting a new job tomorrow and they’re giving me a work phone. I’m hoping it’s an android because I’ve been wanting to try one after seeing iPhones go downhill year after year. Hopefully I dig the android operating system and can switch my personal phone over also. Never wanted to buy one and find out if I liked the system, but if they’re giving it to me for free I’ll give it a try.

Soooooo… After mine reverted back I found that it’s a garbage Apple App(Safari) problem as usual and I downloaded the Mozilla Firefox app and it does not do it, go figure. I was using that for a couple days and it works great. Accidentally went into Safari yesterday and googled and noticed that it had changed again and shows the search bar again. Guess it depends on which day of the week you use it🤦🏼‍♂️🤣

Hi all.

14 pro.

none of the suggestions worked for me other than draw the search box down and tap search box again to see what i'm typing. Very annoying !

What worked for me was to change the zoom setting for google.

Hope this works for others...

Settings>Safari>Page zoom>Google>100%

mine was set at 115% and search box dissapeared.

as soon as i set it to 100% everything returned to normal 👍🏻

Mine was already set for Google at 100%, but just for kicks I changed it to various settings. No dice.

I can make the problem go away by going to settings -> display & brightness -> display zoom -> “default”, rather than “larger text”, however I just cannot live with the phone set that way. Instead I live with the other annoyance.
