Messenger not working on My iPad 10 Generation

I have a new iPad 10 Generation which synced with my iPhone well except that i can't open Facebook messenger. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, turned off and on the iPad as well as checked the settings, but nothing works. It works on my PC and iPhone. Any suggetions?

Got it!!!!

  1. Delete Messenger App
  2. Delete Facebook App
  3. Turned off IPAD
  4. Restart IPad
  5. Install Messenger
  6. Open Messenger
  7. Smile... if Messenger is opened
  8. Install Facebook
  9. Open Facebook


It worked .... back to normal life (LOL)

There are many reports of issues with Messenger. Many users also report that deleting both the FaceBook and Messenger Apps from the iPad, prior to restarting and reinstalling the Apps, will resolve the problem. Perhaps this will also work for you:


Delete apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Force restart iPad - Apple Support



After restarting the iPad, install and launch Messenger App first - and then reinstall the FaceBook App:

I had to swap out my iPad two days ago at an Apple Store (warranty), and yesterday I noted that messenger wasn’t working. Forty-five minutes on the phone with support, changes to lots of settings on the iPad and my i-Phone, and it started working. We’ll see if its still working over the next couple days before I am convinced that its been fixed in a meaningful fashion.

Same thing for me, very disappointed, I bought the IPad 10th 2 weeks ago, I'm seriously thinking of returning it.

Messenger works very well on the Iphone 12, all APPs are well synchronized except Messenger, I did the transfer from an Ipad 2 from an Icloud backup

I did all the steps, installation, uninstallation, reboot etc... wasted a lot of time trying to open Messenger, with no success,

I did that twice, no luck. so glad Apple supports it's new products (NOT). I've had good luck with the Ipods, and Ipad, and Ipad Air in the past. Messenger is a critical app for my mother to line up people to get her to appointments or ask for assistance with items she can't do at home. so without a working Messenger the Ipad is worthless. I've seen Iphones and Ipad pros having the issue. Wish Apple would set up and work with messenger to identify the problem and solution. Mother's Ipad Air is very old and at an IOS that is no longer updated.
