Why is it so difficult to share files on a Mac - airdrop error, cable transfer error

Why is so difficult to share files in a Mac, why can't it be as simple as drag and drop like in a windows, copy and paste between two folders.

  1. airdrop will not complete ANY video transfer between Mac and IOS.
  2. In order to transfer through a cable connected to the Mac I need to Sync which will delete a bunch of files on the iPhone because they don't exist on the Mac storage.

So basically I am now wasting 1-2 hours in a try and error situation installing third party file manager systems just so I can successfully transfer 1 miserable file between my computer and my iPhone.

Why apple? why you make the simplest action so dreadful, complicated, annoying, ridiculously complex? why can't I simple order MAC TRANSFER THIS FILE FROM HERE TO HERE?

It is so frustrating owning apple devices

Hello SentoneBravoSix,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. With the inability of using AirDrop from the Mac to your iPhone for videos, there are steps we recommend to verify. Here are the steps:

1. If you have a firewall enabled on your Mac, let's temporarily turn it off and test to see if you can share your video files between the Mac and the iPhone. Here's how:

- macOS Ventura or later: Choose Apple menu  > System Settings. Click Network in the sidebar,
then click Firewall on the right. Click the Options button, then make sure that “Block all incoming
connections” is turned off.

- Earlier versions of macOS: Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Security &
Privacy. Click the Firewall tab, then click the lock  and enter your administrator password when
prompted. Click Firewall Options, then make sure that “Block all incoming connections” is deselected.

This information is outlined here: Use AirDrop on your Mac

2. Ensure that your Mac is updated to the latest version of macOS 13.0 Ventura and the iPhone on iOS 16.1. This will help provide software improvements for each device.

3. Lastly, please make sure that both devices are within 30 feet (9 meters) of each other and have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on.

Following these steps may help. We look forward to hearing back from you with an update.

Best regards.
