upgrading to Ventura should not make your iMac run slower. but I need to ask, does the iMac have a mechanical HDD (or Fusion Drive) or is it equipped with 100% SSD storage? because, depending on which macOS you are currently running, it may slow down if it's HDD (or Fusion Drive) equipped.
