speakers hooked up to macbook only work with facetime

I have a docking station for my MacBook in my home office, and I run all Audio out of the audio port using aux cable that plugs into speakers. For some reason my speakers only play audio when im on FaceTime, and any other audio besides FaceTime is very quite. Does anyone know why this is happening or do they have a fix for it?

When I make a call, the audio output won't direct to my headphones but plays through the MacBook speakers. I have been into sound settings and changed the audio to headphones, which continue to play through the speakers. All other apps play through the headphones as they should. Interestingly, when I choose my headphones in the settings and adjust the volume slider it changes the audio of the MacBook speakers. FaceTime microphone stopped working on my MacBook Air FaceTime Microphone stopped working on macbook air 15 inch, the microphone works on everything else. I can hear people on FaceTime, but they can’t hear me. I did every troubleshoot possible. The microphone is enabled. I did the latest update and it was working initially then it stopped. Microphone not working on Facetime So I have a Mac Mini with M2 Pro with Mac OS 15 (Sequoia) and an external Dell Monitor C2722DE with in build webcam, microphone and speakers. I can do video calls with Signal app without problems. However when I try to do a video call using Facetime the other side cannot hear me. So it cannot be a problem with my hardware or drivers, it must be a problem specific to Facetime. It seems like the microphone is switched off for Facetime. Does anyone have an idea what could be the issue here?

Audio Midi Setup utility lets you have more finite control of audio out.

Additionally you can set the system sounds through the system settings under the Apple menu to use a different output device.

Facetime has its own settings on its control panel. Each app you use that doesn't use the system settings may have its own settings for audio if system settings don't override them.
