Broken IPhone iCloud verification code

So my step father broke his iPhone we took it to get fix the guy tells us you need to turn off your find my phone. Okay cool how we do that if the phones broken? It’s easy use a different device. Sounds simple we get home we try using my iPad to log into the Apple ID now here is where I’m losing brain cells they asking for a verification code that they send to the broken phone?????? I mean if this is not the dumbest thing I have ever heard idk what is. So how do we fix the **** phone if we can’t get on Apple ID to turn off find my phone?????

You had an iPhone in which the Apple ID account is set with 2FA , also find my is enabled in the broken iPhone , the iPhone can't repaired or you are trying to fix it to access the account , the verification code will definitely go to the broken iPhone when account is accessed from another browser .

You are also having an iPad sign in with same Apple ID and password on the same network , but don't remove the old iPhone from the account in the last steps that is mentioned in the thread , as you said you want to turn off find my see the article If Find My is offline or not working - Apple Support ( see the section - I see a device that I don’t own or use anymore ) .

The phone screen is completely broken that’s what we are trying fix. But the repair man said he can’t fix it until we turn off find my phone. I honestly don’t really understand what’s that got to do with the screen but that’s what we need to do and we can’t get on the account with out the code that being send to the broken phone

The code can't be viewed in the broken screen of iPhone unless its repaired , that's the reason you can't get in the account , arrange a new iPhone or web browser and follow the previously posted steps .

Note : you can't remove find my from the iPhone in which screen is broken .
