Deleting photos

If I delete photos off my camera roll on my phone, how long does it take for camera roll on my laptop to be updated, so it too reflects deleted photos? I am just wanting to keep some photos on my camera roll from a recent trip, but sometimes have 6 photos of 1 moment and just need to keep 1 (for example). I am finding it is much quicker to delete from my phone, than to delete on my mac. When I delete on iPhoto on my mac, for every photo it asks "are you sure you want to delete this photo?"(ie so extra clicks). Hence why the phone is quicker. But I am trying to get through a large amount of photos and then organise these photos, so I only want to start the deleting process off my phone, if I know it will reflect on the camera roll on iPhoto on my mac...

Thanks in advance.

Also, you can delete a picture in Mac Photos with command-delete-- no questions are asked. And, as Ralf-F suggests, you can command-click on the pictures one at a time and then command-delete and, poof, all gone. If the pictures you want to delete are all in a row, you can click on the first one, shift-click on the last one, and command-click to delete them all. (They're not gone, really-- they go to the Recently Deleted folder where they can be revived within 30 days. This is so much easier than on the phone!
