How can I get more iMovie themes other than the 14 already installed? Is there a trusted 3rd party that can be downloaded directly into iMovie?

There really is no feasible way to get more iMovie themes from outside iMovie. iMovie does not accept third party plug-ins. Some people have tried to adapt the iDVD themes to iMovie, but that method is not often satisfactory.
One feasible way that can work from within iMovie is to open a Trailer project and crib some themes from there, as there are many of them. Create a Trailer project, chose a theme, and then do File/Convert Trailer to Movie. That will give you a movie project with the trailer theme, and you can substitute your own photos and videos as you see fit.
