Alarm turning off during night

iPhone 13 - iOS 16.0.2

I set my alarm as usual, it shows as on/active.

During the night, the alarm will turn itself off, and then it doesn’t go off. When I open the app, it shows as off, but interestingly, if I slide up into the app preview screen, it shows as on.

This is the third time in a year this has happened, and my employer is not impressed.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Iphones dhould be on charge and on wi-fi all night every night.

but I don't think it is relevant. The fact there is no presented solution suggests it is a local iphone issue.

Next steps...

Backup, restore to factory,  maybe set up without restoring backup and test at that point,, then restore from the backup:-

(If the phone needs attention you will have to do this anyway)

If you can import your media to Photos or iTunes in a computer and copy important documents to a cloud server it will give you some resilience in case the restore from backup fails, or you need to ditch the backup and start as new.

See here for the resources you need. Allow a couple of hours:

(1)          How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

(2)          Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

(3)          Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

If the problem remains then do step (2) again but set up as new without restoring any backup. Install only essential messaging apps

If it fixes it then it is probably a rogue app or setting.

No, never happened to me, suggests an iOS corruption.

Rather than backing up and restoring, update to 16.1 using a computer which will refresh the copy of iOS

Thanks for replying LD.

This was happening on iOS 15 as well, so it appears to be transient since then. I’ll do the update anyway.

Lots of people have raised similar queries over the past four years, and there doesn’t appear to be a total solution.

Q: Not being aware of the mechanics, could this be something to do with automatic updates - if the device is not on charge overnight, it cannot update, and perhaps the device reverts to it’s previous image (a point in time before I set the alarm) - thoughts?
