How do I back up my iPhoto Library onto a CD?

I selected 6 albums in my iPhoto Library to burn to a CD. I chose my Desktop as the location to receive them. When I went to drag the 6 folders onto the disk's icon, there were a ZILLION little folders there, ------every one of them were individual photos, all on top of one another! It has taken me two hours and I've dragged some pictures 3 times and missed others ---- it's a mess!

What's the best and easiest way to do this from now on?
Thanks for any guidance ---specific, please.

Thank you for this help! As I carefully read your reply I realized the key word was to send them to a "FOLDER" on the desktop, and I previously hadn't even noticed the place where I was to "create a folder" before sending them. So I tried that on my next batch and it went very well --- and so much quicker!!

But I don't understand why you say that this is not backing up my photos. They are getting put on CDs, so why is that not a backup? Where and when would I find the "Share -> Burn" command if I wanted to do that?

Thanks again!

That is not what TD said - it backs up your photos but does not backup your library which contains metadata like keywords, etc in addition to photos

Note that this does not back up your Library. For that you need to use the Share -> Burn command

Under the Share Menu
