Loss of Functionality in Books App (No Metadata Editing or Sorting in Ventura)

I just updated from Big Sur to Ventura and regret it because now the Books app does not let me edit book metadata (e.g., publication year, date added, category/genre). These features were very helpful for me as a researcher, as they helped with organization and facilitated recall whenever I needed to dig into my library for a specific book or article. I could sort by any of of these (title, author, year, data added, category) and see all my content in a big list--it was perfect. Really wondering why things changed to feel more like the dumbed down version of Books found in iOS. Is there a way to change it back in View or Settings or something? Thankfully I still have an older machine running Big Sur, which preserves all the aforementioned metadata editing and sorting functions. Really kind of bummed with this new change--feels very half-baked, almost like the Books app was an afterthought assigned to the little league programming / design team. Overall a big step backwards.
