siri and its uselessness to the majority
Still useless. every time I ask a question it's either "Finder hasn't....." "I can't....." etc. etc. so what is actually being done? if anything.

So, don't use it if it doesn't work for you. I find Siri works just fine for me. While I understand your subject line was hyperbole, I find that rhetorical device is rarely useful in a technical support forum.

No one here in this user-to-user forum would know what Apple's plans for Siri are. However, you can let them know your thoughts here:
You can give them specific examples of issues you're having. That feedback will be routed to the appropriate departments and you can feel good that you are part of the solution.
Again, an example of asking the wrong question. No one replying here works for Apple or ahs any knowledge of their plans. Maybe you need to ask them.
From the many complaints here on various Siri topics I believe that there is a large number of people who are disappointed with Siris performance over the years.Mea culpa in not running an expert poll here.
The questions I ask are always precise in delivery. The truncated replies are merely an example of the replies I have received since Siris inception. (I've been an iMac user since the first single core intel white plastic model) I'll ask the question again. Due to the VERY few helpful replies I have received from Siri over the years, is Apple working to set things right?
Well if the questions you pose to Siri are as vague as that then it's no surprise it doesn't work for you. What majority do you refer to? And how do you know?
+1
FWIW, considering there are over 100 Million Mac users I see very few Siri "complaints".
