Husband receiving text, but w/o audible Alerts

Is this happening with multiple contacts or for a specific contact? Are there audible notifications for any other app?

There are a few things to try:

1. Confirm silent mode is not enabled. On the left side of the device is the Ring/Silent switch. Confirm the switch is positioned so that orange is not showing. Check out: How to put your iPhone on vibrate, ring, or silent mode - Apple Support. If the device is set to silent mode, this would be expected behavior.
2. Confirm notification settings for Messages. You can go to Settings > Notification > Messages > Sounds, confirm that an alert tone is selected and "None" is not selected. Check out: Use notifications on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
3. Confirm there is no Focus enable that may prevent notifications. You can go to Settings > Focus. Check out: Use Focus on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
