Got a brand new apple watch Se but can’t pair to my phone because the watch ios is out of date? How do I update the watch? It’s brand new and never been paired.
My phone is a SE second gen. The watch is new and was shipped from apple.

Ok I will try this later on tonight. My phone is up to date with 15.7.1 but not 16.1.
But it seems the reason I can’t pair the watch is because the whatc software is obsolete? Not the phones. But I will go ahead and update to 16.1 and give it a try!

If you purchased a brand new Apple Watch from Apple, it came with WatchOS 9. Any Apple Watch on WatchOS 9 will not pair with any iPhone which is not running at least iOS 16.

the watch is new and I can’t uodate the watch directly because it’s from the factory and I can’t access the settings menu.

Is your iPhone updated to iOS 16.1? It has to be on iOS 16.1 for your new watch to pair to it.
