Greetings Follow16,

We may need to get some more details on what’s happening, so that as the community we can provide targeted steps to help resolve it.

If your Apple ID is not active and that is the error message you see, or even if you see a message that your Apple ID is disabled in the iTunes and App Store, that is a matter you’ll need to connect with Apple Support directly on and you can do so by starting with this link - If a message says 'Your account has been disabled in the App Store and iTunes'

If you’re seeing a message that your Apple ID is locked for security reasons, resetting the password can often solve that. The following article goes over the different options for resetting your password - If you forgot your Apple ID password.

If neither of those helps, please tell us more on exactly what you see in your device and perhaps what steps were taken that you are now stating your iPhone has recovered to the old iCloud.

Thanks.

Thank you for providing those details, Follow16.

To clarify, are you seeing an error message when attempting to sign out of your Apple ID? If so, are you seeing the prompt that your Apple ID is inactive? If so, you'll want to contact Apple next as they'll be able to assist further with this message. You can find their contact options via the links below.

If you're getting a different error message, let us know in more detail about the message you're seeing. This will help guide us through the proper troubleshooting steps for reaching a resolution. If you're not getting an error message, just needing assistance with signing out of your Apple ID for iCloud on your iPhone, you can sign out by going in to Settings > [your name], scroll down the screen, then tap Sign Out. These steps can also be found in the following article.

Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac

Let us know how that goes, and we'll continue from there!

Have a great day!
