AKAuthentication Error 7005 and erasing iPad

Trying to erase an old ipad to turn in to Apple in exchange for my new ipad and receiving AKAuthentication Error 7005. Wi-Fi is on and connected. Using the correct password. What do I do so I can erase it?

Hello haditwithapple,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities.

The error message you are seeing is normally related to a network error of some kind. To test the strength of the connection on the iPad, can you open Safari and navigate to Apple.com? If so, does it load as expected or is it slow to load?

Also, are you connecting through a VPN or other security software? If so, let’s remove all security software from the iPad and connect to your home Wi-Fi to complete the store.

If neither of these steps help, do you have another Wi-Fi connection you can try to restore on? If so, let’s try that to eliminate the Wi-Fi as the source for the error message.

Kindest regards.
