Why2 discriptions? It’s an iPhone 12 but has an 8 in parenthesis

That (8) refers to the number of devices with the name "iPhone" that have been associated with the Apple ID. It has nothing to do with the model of the iPhone.


If you have more than one device with the same name, a number gets added to the end automatically to separate them.


You can change the iPhone name in Settings->General->About->Name to anything you want to avoid confusion.
