Cannot Receive FaceTime Call on my M1 MacBook Pro running Ventura

I have the same basic question as

Gabriel of Toronto Posted on Mar 23, 2014 7:30 PM.

Whenever someone attempts to call me on my iPhone 6, only my iPhone receives the call - but not the FaceTime application on my laptop (M1 MacBook Pro running Ventura). On the other hand, I can use FaceTime on my laptop to make phone calls. I can also use my iPhone to send & receive calls - but that is not the problem. receiving calls on my laptop used to work just fine. I think this issue may have begun when I installed the most current OS 12 update. To attmpt to resolve this issue, I have tried restarting both iPhone and laptop, signing out & in to both devices, updated OS to Ventura, ensured both devices are on same network, ensured bluetooth sharing is enabled (BTW - interesting that I cannot connect my iPhone to laptop via Bluetooth - but Apple forum experts seem to say that is not the issue. Hoping you will please provide more of a resolution to me than was offered to Gabe of Toronto in 2014!

Hey there toddmoore,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We're happy to provide some assistance.

Let's check the following to make sure they are enabled:

Make and receive phone calls on Mac or iPad - Apple Support

On your iPhone go to Settings > Phone > Calls on Other Devices, turn on Allow Calls on Other Devices.

On your Mac go to FaceTime > Preferences. Settings, then select Calls From iPhone.

If the issue persists, let's test to see if this occurs in safe mode. Starting up your Mac in safe mode can help you identify whether issues you’re experiencing are caused by software that loads as your Mac starts up:

Per your Guidance:

  • I checked and both iPhone and MacBook pref settings were correct.
  • I restarted in Safe Mode (and confirmed that it was Safe Mode)

I asked my spouse to call me, but the issue still occurs. The call went only to iPhone and not to MacBook (even though FaceTime app was open)

Misc:   Yes, File sharing is enabled

Yes, Notifications are turned on for FaceTime.

(It shouldn’t matter but) my iPhone 6 is up-to-date with iOS 12.5.6

Thank you for your prompt reply, alma1090. I created a new user account (as admin), then restarted and signed into the new account. FaceTime was open on my desktop. However, when my wife called, my iPhone 6 device did not trigger a FaceTime call on my laptop even in the new account. I restarted and am currently signed into my original admin account, yet willing to keep the new admin account, temporarily, in case there there may be further need of it to resolve this issue. (If not let me know and I will delete the account.) BTW - While in the account area of system prefs I did ensure that my iPhone 6 was visible as one of my devices (and turned on).
