Can 2 apple id's be merged?

I have two different apple ids. Is there anyway to merge them? Books, music, app purchases made over time and I have to sign in to each one apple id to update those purchases.

Apple IDs can't be merged. You can try setting up Family Sharing between the IDs if you want to be able to share purchases made with the IDs.
