Notes from Notes App Missing

I shared a note from the note app with my kids and now all of my notes are missing. I'm on an Iphone 8 version 15. I keep looking up how to recover and it keeps telling me to go to the folders and hit the back button. There is no back button. Also, they are not showing up in the Recently Deleted folder, but the app is showing a huge amount of space being used. What do I do to get my notes back?
