Reinstalling OS X El Capitan

Good morning, I have this macBook 13-inch, Mid 2010 which I plan on donating however, I tried to reset to clear it of all my info in following a video to uninstall and reinstall ... After uninstalling OS X following the procedure to reinstall, there's a pop up that says OS X is temporary available. I have tried on several occasions to reinstall and still unsuccessful, I keep getting the same pop up. How do I reinstall the OS X?

MacBook, OS X 10.11

Hello redd123fox,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

We are happy to assist with reinstalling macOS. Please follow the steps as listed here: If an error occurred while updating or installing macOS - Apple Support

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Install in safe mode
  3. Install after repairing your disk
  4. Install from macOS Recovery
  5. Install after erasing your Mac

Here’s how to reinstall macOS: How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support

Reinstall macOS

Reinstalling macOS does not remove data from your Mac. To begin installation, select Reinstall macOS from the utilities window in macOS Recovery, then click Continue and follow the onscreen instructions.

Follow these guidelines during installation:

  • If the installer asks to unlock your disk, enter the password you use to log in to your Mac.
  • If the installer doesn't see your disk, or it says that it can't install on your computer or volume, you might need to erase your disk first.
  • If the installer offers you the choice between installing on Macintosh HD or Macintosh HD - Data, choose Macintosh HD.
  • Allow installation to complete without putting your Mac to sleep or closing its lid. Your Mac might restart and show a progress bar several times, and the screen might be empty for minutes at a time.

After installation is complete, your Mac might restart to a setup assistant. If you're selling, trading in, or giving away your Mac, press Command-Q to quit the assistant without completing setup. Then click Shut Down. When the new owner starts up the Mac, they can use their own information to complete setup.

We recommend the information listed here before giving away your Mac: What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Mac - Apple Support

  1. Cancel or transfer AppleCare coverage
  2. Use Erase All Content and Settings, if available
  3. Back up or transfer your files
  4. Sign out of iTunes
  5. Sign out of iCloud
  6. Sign out of iMessage
  7. Optional: Unpair Bluetooth devices
  8. Erase your Mac and reinstall macOS
  9. Reset NVRAM and shut down

Take care.
