The Apple online store recommends using Apple's USB-C to USB adapter cable when connecting the Apple USB SuperDrive with supported Mac models with USB-C ports. There is also a list of supported Mac hardware under its related Compatibility section too.

Apple does not guarantee interoperability of the USB SuperDrive with external hubs or other adaptors.

I have one on order, will see how it works with the Superdrive. I also have two other OWC docks (the more expensive Thunderbolt 3 and 4 docks, that have more ports) in use at work and they do work with the Apple Superdrive, as long as their dock ejector driver is installed and kept updated. I have seen a few other vendors indicating that their hobs or docks work with a Superdrive but can't recall the brand right now.
