To install iOS 15.7.1, go to Setting > General > Software Update

An upgrade on an iPhone X should get you iOS 16.1.1. That is current.

If you’re still on an older iIS version, that can means you’re short on free storage.

Which means off-loading or deleting contents needed for the upgrade.

You will probably need to use a computer for the upgrade, if you are far enough back.
