Music Library.musiclibrary is 32Gb!

Hi,

My music library is stored on our SAN. I've been having some problems with Music saying that the library file can't be saved as a duplicate name has been specified. Music also often stops playing via Airplay after a couple of seconds but seems fine if I restart Music.

Anyhow I looked at the .musiclibrary file this morning and noticed that it's 32Gb which seems way too big for a music library that is "only" 100Gb or so - and I guess could be causing problems if my Mac is trying to read a 32Gb file over our home network!

Is there any way to reconstruct the library file so it is a more sensible size or should I just delete it and reimport all my music into the Music app?

Thanks in anticipation,

Rob

Temporary files are supposed to flit in and out of existence as the library is updated. If they get left in place something has disturbed the process. You may find things are more efficient if your database is stored locally rather than on the SAN, although the risk with a split library layout is that if you start Music when the remote media folder isn't available Music will silently reset the media folder to /Media in the location of your .musiclibrary package.
