Are AirTags now useless

so they did an (anti-stalking ) update on these AirTags and I’m curious if it’s on my ATV ,someone steals it puts it in the back of their truck has an iPhone it notifies them it’s travelling with them and they turn it off so my question is ,are AirTags a waste of time to protect -ATV ,dirtbike ,bicycle ,wallet, Keys ,or just about anything that someone’s able to steal and take with ? Have you not just repurpose this thing to be nonsense

AirTags seem to have been designed to notify a thief if they steal a tagged item. Furthermore, after a theft the thief has been given instructions so that they may disable the AirTag. Is this generally the situation?

Thieves must love the changes There are two reasons for an airtag...find things that are lost and find things that are stolen. Since the tags automatically chime if they are separated from their owner and iPhone users are notified if an airtag is "following" them, thieves will be notified they are present and be able to discard them. I understand the reason for the change but it defeats one of the primary purposes of the product.

airtag to help alert for a theft? Instead of keys or wallet those items I carry with me, what if I attach AirTag to my valuable item that I have kept at home, can I set an alert to me once that valuable item is taken out away from my home (for example, got stolen from my home and so I will be alert right away )
