Using RJ45 to USB C Ethernet Adapter on iMac 24 Inch 2021

I have the entry level iMac 24inch M1 without the ethernet power adapter upgrade, is it possible to use a RJ45 to USB C Ethernet adapter such as the ones available on the Apple store (Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter) to plug into router directly or does this only work on older iMac / MacBooks (compatibility list on Apple store does not include M1 iMac, but does include M1 MacBook)?

iMac 24″, macOS 13.0

It should work. That entry level iMac has two Thunderbolt ports that will appear in the Network preference panel as Thunderbolt Bridge.

Interesting choice you made, though, as the Gigabit ethernet option for that model is only $30 and you will pay more for the adapter. Of course the best option would be WiFi if you have a WiFi enabled router.
