Preview text box typing upside down

This has never happened before today but for some reason when I'm typing my notes in the text box on preview, the typing flips upside down and backwards. It corrects when I click out of the box and go to move it, but the second I type again, it reflips. Does anyone know how to fix this?

This was a bug that affected pages that had been rotated. Quitting or force-quitting Preview would not have fixed it.

The bug was fixed in 13.2, so that it is all it takes: update your OS.

Old Toad, that could have been a possibility in the case of the OP, but I was able to reproduce the problem using a file he shared. It is definitely something that occurs and is dependent on the particular PDF. I could not make it happen with any of mine, but the one by the OP (the link to which, of course, was promptly removed by the moderators) DID show the problem on my mac.

I just tried the print to pdf and you are right that the upside down typing did not carry over; however, I needed to rotate all the pages, and after doing so the issue came back. Very strange.

The pdf was created on a mac by an architect with whom we're collaborating on a project for a client, notably created and viewed on 13.1. I'm updating to 13.2 now to see if that solves it for me.

Has there been any solution to this problem? I don't see it anywhere in the thread.

Of course not. No one has provided any meaningful information.

Obviously, most people aren't seeing this. Therefore, it is up to the people who are experiencing the problem to dig into it a little bit more. For something like this, an easy, and you would think, obvious, first step is to post a link to a file that will reproduce the problem. Until that happens, there will be zero progress of any kind.

NO! Safe Mode did nothing to correct this problem. It persists and is randomized; i.e. sometimes it doesn't flip when in a new preview doc, sometimes it DOES flip when marking up a previous PDF from Word for Mac.

It is an intermittent problem, so very hard to diagnose.

I am sure it is a function of the recent Mac OS 13.0.1 and continues in 13.1.

HELP!!!!!!! (Apple, are you listening???)

None of us work for Apple, we are users like you.

Even if we knew exactly where the bug is, we cannot fix it. Only Apple can.

Besides, I think everyone in this thread understands the problem.

But most files do not present it, so etresoft asked for an example pdf where the problem manifests itself.

I have been marking pdf assignments all day and this does not happen; but I found out how to make it happen.

This has been happening to me as well for a few weeks now and even after the latest Ventura update I processed today. I am running MacOS Ventura 13.1 on a 2021 Apple M1 MacBook Air.

This seems to be happening to me on every PDF file I try to annotate / edit. This behavior does NOT happen when I try to annotate a JPG or PNG file. I also tried converting the PDF files to JPG and PNG and I still do not see this upside down behavior.

The left alignment and Right alignment buttons are reversed also

For me, in the document showing the problem, the left and right are consistent: it just writes it upside down when editing, but clicking left does align left, and right does align right, so when getting out of edit mode the text is completely correct; only when editing it is upside down.
