My iphone 12 health app was working accurately for hiking. Today is was a mile short. I did download an update yesterday. I went through all the steps for calibrating and everything seemed ok. Help.

How do I fix my walking distance on the iPhone 12 Health app? Today I was on a 3.9 mile hike,

and the walking distance read was 2.9. My phone was off a mile. What happened? When I got

home, I checked all the settings and restarted my iPhone. The distance stayed at 2.9. The only thing different is several days ago, I did have an update.

Any ideas? I hike a lot and like knowing my distance.

Thank you,

CM

maxciez,

Thanks for letting us know! In your troubleshooting, did you make sure your Health Profile is set up correctly? This can help with tracking your data too: Use the Health app on your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support

Set up your Health Profile

1. Open the Health app and tap the Summary tab.
2. Tap your profile picture  in the upper-right corner.
3. Tap Health Details, then tap Edit.
4. Add your information, like height, weight, and age.
5. Tap Done.
6. You can also set up your Medical ID or register to be an organ donor from your profile.

Your Apple Watch uses your personal information to calculate how many calories you burn and more. You can choose to share this information with other apps and it's kept up to date across all your devices.
With iOS 14, after setting up your Health Profile, you can review your Health Checklist initially from the Summary tab. The Health Checklist lets you see and enable available health features. You can also tap your profile picture in the upper-right, then tap Health Checklist to access it.

If that doesn't help, we recommend reaching out to Apple Support to look into this more: Contact - Official Apple Support

Best regards.

Hey maxciez,

You completed some great steps to try to resolve this! In your troubleshooting, did you unpair your Apple Watch and set it up again to see if that helps resolve this? If not, back up your iPhone then unpair and set up the watch again:

  1. How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
  2. Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support
  3. Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Let us know how it goes.

Take care!

Thanks for the additional info re: setting up the health app. I have been using the app for several years. I deleted the app and original onfo then put the info back in the app. Nothing has changed i.e. all my data is the same. I appreciate your recommendation to go to the store for additional support. Thank you for your assistance.
