Airport for dial up w/PC??

So, I'm staying somewhere only with dialup internet. And since the apple computer died, it was replaced with a PC computer. Which was fine, but now with two computers it would really be nice to figure out how to get the airport to dial the internet. Apparently, only apple computers can dial? Is there a work around? (Hosting networks and ad hoc networks don't work with the PC apparently...)

TIA!

The AirPort Extreme Base Station with dialup modem option was discontinued in 2007. The ability to use the Wi-Fi icon to dial its phone was subsequently removed in a macOS version a long time ago.

Early Macs incorporated dialup modems starting with the original iMac. It too was removed in later models; not sure which. That has nothing to do with the AirPort Base Station but as Tesserax wrote this is where you posted your question.

So unless you have a very old AEBS and a very old Mac, you will need to find a USB dialup modem adapter. Apple used to sell them but they were also discontinued a long time ago. Read this Discussion for a description: MA034 Apple external modem - Apple Community. I do not know if macOS still incorporates the ability to use it. They are commonly found and inexpensive enough on the used market it you want to find out.

Then you must be referring to the A1034 model Extreme, which came with a built-in modem. The version of the AirPort Utility back then for this device was 3.2, that was designed to run on a Windows XP PC.

This AirPort was also an 802.11b/g model. The latest version of the AirPort Utility for these would have been the 4.2 version. The later 5.x.x versions supported both 802.11g/n ... and may not work. The latest version of the utility was also designed work with Windows 7.

I am assuming clicking the Mac's Wi-Fi icon does not offer an option to connect with the modem. I don't recall what the exact menu option was, other than the fact it was obvious and I made great use of it two decades ago.

Perhaps Download AirPort Utility 5.6.1 for Windows? AirPort Utility is the only way to get a PC to communicate with an AEBS. An older version of it may be required for a PC, and for same reason it would be for a Mac: to communicate with an older AEBS.

Here is an older one: AirPort Utility 5.5.3 for Windows

Another thought is to use Internet Sharing: Share the internet connection on Mac with other network users, or its PC equivalent assuming there is one.

Yes, it's an incredibly old Airport Extreme. I just needed to know if there's a way to get it to dial the internet from a PC computer. I used to do it from the old mac. With two people here, having a plugged in laptop, means one laptop at a time can connect. I thought the airport would be a good way for two laptops to connect. The Airport does work, and is capable of dialup internet, but will only dialup from a Mac. Not a PC. I was hoping there was a work around or something?

TIA!
