Siri changed from depressed to up-beat and back to depressed

OK...so my subject is a very brief description of the issue. Here is more detail - this is specific to Siri on my Apple Watch (series 3) when I close rings while recording an exercise. I had an issue with Siri sounding too depressed, so I switched between the different voices available in my region. I ended up settling for Irish Siri (voice 2 - the female one). She continued sounding too depressed when telling me I closed my rings while I am recording an exercise...and then one day, without me doing anything - she started sounding upbeat!! This may seem like something small, but it really made me feel better.

I recently had to redo my phone due to an unrelated issue and set it up from scratch. And now Siri is depressed again... :'( I've tried switched to one of the American voices, but the problem persisted.

Is there anyone who can help me figure out why and how it changed to upbeat the previous time so that I can replicate this? I didn't make any changes on my phone or watch that I know of - it just happened automatically.

Hey LeeTheStrange,

Are you using the same Siri voice on your iPhone that you enjoy on your Apple Watch? Your Apple Watch will use the Siri voice you’ve chosen on your iPhone according to this article: Change Siri voice or language - Apple Support

On your Apple Watch
Siri uses the same language and voice on your Apple Watch that's set up on your iPhone. On Apple Watch Series 3 or later, you can have Siri speak responses. On your Apple Watch, go to Settings > Siri.
On earlier Apple Watch models, Siri will display responses on your screen with text or images. Learn more about Siri on Apple Watch.

If you’d rather have a different Siri voice on your iPhone, it may be that your Apple Watch didn’t have sufficient storage space to complete the download. We recommend removing different items that’s located on your Apple Watch and trying to download the Siri voice again. Here’s a few suggestions of items you can remove:

Listen to music and podcasts on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Choose a photo album and manage storage on Apple Watch – Apple Support

Delete apps from your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Once you’ve regained some of the storage space on your Apple Watch, try to download your chosen Siri voice again: Use Siri on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Please let us know the results when you're able.

All the best.

I've done some more investigating and finally figured out that the Siri voice download to my Apple Watch isn't initiating, no matter what I do. This is the reason for the robotic, or "depressed" voice I've been experiencing.

So far I have tried a lot of things to try and rectify this, to no avail. I am currently restoring my watch to see if that solves the problem.

It's a bit frustrating to see how many people are dealing with this same issue, and a lot of them have found no resolution to date. Apple needs to do better.

Hi LeeTheStrange,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like you're having an issue with how Siri's voice sounds on your Apple Watch.

We're happy to assist.

We recommend checking out the steps in the section titled "On your Apple Watch" from the article here: Change Siri voice or language - Apple Support

The reason why we are recommending the steps above is because they will show you how to change the voice and language that Siri uses on your Apple Watch.

Should the issue continue, then we recommend that you submit feedback regarding this here: Product Feedback - Apple

Cheers!

Hi J_Johnnyboy

I have changed my language and everything on my watch and it’s still not working.

I got it to download to 51% by changing the language on my Apple Watch to the same as the nationality of the voice I want to use. But I had to leave and I left my phone with my watch and when I came back it just said “Waiting to download” again, it seems all progress have been lost.

Apple really needs to do better. I am very upset over this.
