How do I get synch my dead phone to a new phone when I want my contacts on the old phone. I changed both phone and number

Did you turn On iCloud on the dead iPhone before the iPhone is dead?
If so, you get 5 GB of free iCloud storage. Information such as contacts, calendars, bookmarks, notes, reminders, voice memos are stored in iCloud.
You must use the same Apple ID and contacts will be sync to you new iPhone (turn iCloud On).
