Text edit application

Good morning

I was wondering about text edit files that are backed up via iCloud from my MacBook. How can I view these files on my iPhone? Since there is no text edit app for iPhone what can I use to view the files in and edit them and still keep the format they were saved in originally?

Thanks.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 13.0

Hello HarSar17,

It appears TextEdit saves documents in Rich Text Document format. If you're wanting to save these files to iCloud, then you could edit them using the Pages app for iOS.

You'd need to save the TextEdit documents to iCloud Drive. Then use the Files app to access them on your iPhone (using the same iCloud account). You can then edit them in the Pages app, which will save it in the same format. You'll also then have the option to change the format, if you choose to export in the Pages app: Convert Pages documents to PDF, Microsoft Word, and more - Apple Support

Learn more with the following:

  1. Make sure iCloud Drive is set up on your Apple devices: Set up iCloud Drive - Apple Support
  2. Save documents in TextEdit on Mac - Apple Support (Shows you how to save them to iCloud.)
  3. Use the Files app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
  4. Pages on the App Store

Let us know if this helps out, take care.
