Possible to use a battery from a iPhone that is no longer used

My husband is deceased. His phone is sitting in a drawer unused. Can battery be changed to my iPhone 8?

Honestly, I can't see the benefit to that. If the phone has been sitting in a drawer unused, the battery has been degrading. If it's not an identical model of phone, the battery would not be interchangeable. Even if the battery did fit, you'd either need to do the swap yourself (bad idea if you don't have experience) or get a third-party repair shop to do it for you (slightly less bad idea).

If the battery health on your phone has declined to below 80%, your wisest course of action is to have Apple replace it with a brand-new battery.
