I just updated to iOS 16.1.1 on my iPhone SE and there is a red dot with no number in it on the corner of the Phone App Icon even though I have no missed calls and no messages. How do I get rid of it?

I had a red dot on the phone icon of my iPhone 8 after the update to the latest iOS 16 version, I went to my voice mail, there were no recorded messages but the action of calling my voicemail removed the red dot.

On your phone, you have to update to the latest iOS version. For me doesn't work because I already have iOS 16.3.1. However, this work on my iPhone: Someone needs to call you and leave a message. Then you call your voicemail and check or delete your messages and hang up. The red dot disappears from the phone app.
