Used Duplicate Contact feature, now every incoming/outgoing has multiple numbers showing in Recents

I updated to IOS16, used the Duplicate function (to remove duplicates), but now every time I receive a call or call someone upon looking in Recents it shows multiple numbers.

For instance, Sister called at 10 . Call ends at 10:15. Looking back on the call it says Sister & 555-555-5555 a random number that isn't even saved in my contacts.

I have read other forums where people say its the way you have saved your contacts, same number to many names, but this is showing a numbers that I have never seen, called or saved before.

Suggestions on how to fix this?

The real problem comes in receiving a call, having to call them Back, and now lets say Wife calls, I have Wife & Dad as the last person that called me, and I have go pull the number from the contacts wasting time.

Hello Bizzy83,

To start off with, let's make sure the Contacts in your iPhone are set up properly. This article explains how to do that: Add and use contact information on iPhone - Apple Support. It may take checking these one by one to confirm the numbers and other data associated with each person.

After that, we'd advise that you check the unknown numbers by searching for the number itself on the top search bar, it might help you locate where that number is listed and either link or delete the contact card, depending on what you decide.

Let us know if we can help with anything else at all or if this doesn't settle your issue so we can look into this further with you. Thanks and have a fabulous day!
