My Apple Watch won’t notify me of a text

You can enable notifications for an app with these steps:

1. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, then tap the My Watch tab. 
2. Tap Notifications. 
3. Select Messages

From there you can either select Mirror my iPhone, if you have notifications set up for messages on your paired phone, or if you don't use notifications for messages on your paired phone select Custom > Allow Notifications.

Keep in mind, depending on the status of your iPhone you may not always get message notifications on the watch.

Notifications appear on your Apple Watch or iPhone, but not both.

• If your iPhone is unlocked, you get notifications on your iPhone instead of your Apple Watch.

•If your iPhone is locked or asleep, you get notifications on your Apple Watch, unless your Apple Watch is locked.
