No internet or data connection after iOS update
Hi guys and gals,
I was hoping someone could offer insight into an issue I am currently facing.
First things first, I am using an iPhone 11 now on iOS 16.1.1.
So, I started having issues with my online banking app. After a quick online search as to what could be causing the problems, I needed to update my phone to the latest iOS version. All seemed well, so I went ahead and started the update process.
However, this is where my misery commenced. Once the iPhone was fully updated to iOS 16.1.1 I quickly found that I had lost all access to the internet whether connected to a WiFi network or cellular data such as 4G.
As you would expect I then referred back to online advice and fixes to this issue, I was unable to find solutions that were accurate to my situation but nevertheless, I tried a few fixes in the hope that something would work.
I have tried force restarting/shutting down the iPhone multiple times, I have reset network settings, I have tried different WiFi routers, I have tried downgrading my cellular data from 4G to 3G and 2G, I have tried airplane mode reset, the list goes on.
Now, this is where things start to make very little sense (to me at least), at the top of my screen where my battery levels and signal strength are displayed, it only ever shows 4G whether I am connected to a router or not. In my WiFi settings, it will show that I am connected to the router, but still no WiFi signal up top. When I disconnect and turn WiFi off it continues to display the 4G icon but does not detect an actual connection.
And just to add to the confusion, the only app that now works for me is my online banking app. I have full access to it as if the issue was never there but it is the ONLY app that works.
If anyone else has faced this issue or perhaps has seen something similar I would be very grateful for any support or assistance as currently my phone might as well be a paperweight.
