How do you rate a iOS app review as helpful or unhelpful?

When you read reviews for an iOS app you can sort by "Most helpful". I don't see how this is tabulated.

It is a little tricky. You have to press and hold on a review and then you'll see a popup where you can rate it as helpful or not helpful. But it seems that on iOS the trick is to press and hold on a review while it is part of the list. If you first tap on a view to read it, then pressing and holding does nothing.

Ah. I see that.

You can send feedback to Apple about this feature: Product Feedback - Apple

Overtime, fewer reviews will be rated as helpful or not helpful, this degrades the value of the reviewing system.

The reviewing system doesn't have any value. Scam app regularly abuse it at scale. Apps that aren't scams can be materially harmed by even a few invalid reviews. It is a form of "engagement" - i.e. social media. But like any social media, it isn't real.

Here is a User Tip I wrote about How to spot fake apps, junk apps, scam apps and abandoned apps.

That is very much a meta-user tip. I'm like you are. I'm trying to inject some truth and reason into a larger social media system. But that's impossible. It simply can't be done by a single person. There is a way to find the truth, but reviews won't get you there.

Thank you for trying to help. It's a little more than tricky, when I tap on an app in the App Store I can then tap on Reviews. It will show me exactly 6 reviews that I can rate helpful or not helpful. As soon as you tap on "show all" the ability to rate a review goes bye-bye. This bug is completely new beginning with iOS 16. Previous versions of the operating system did not do this. Overtime, fewer reviews will be rated as helpful or not helpful, this degrades the value of the reviewing system.

If you know of a way to rate more than the six reviews initially presented please advise.
