what about my iphone? I have an iphone 8. I did the latest update (16.1.1). Now my iphone battery is a disaster. In seconds it loses its charge. I have to put my iphone to charge on. This is normal?

I have iPhone 11…since update battery dies within hours! I updated yesterday….noticed battery dying quickly…went to settings-battery to see what was using so much..nothing unusual battery health 84%. Today battery completely dead in 3 hours…went to settings- battery and battery health is now 82%. Something weird happened with this latest update…..this is not good!

I'm glad that's figured out. The long process of applying an iOS update to an old iPhone 8 with its already weak battery can be the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back." Then the iOS update is mistakenly blamed.
Yes, a newer phone would be good, but your iPhone 8 will sell better with a new battery:

...Or simply trade it in with its original battery at Apple:

Plebeyo ~ To be clearer, this icon is the Settings app:
...Tap it to open Settings app. Then scroll down to Battery and tap it. Then tap Battery Health and tell us what the Maximum Capacity % is. If its value is only "––", let us know that.

100% max capacity is unlikely for an original iPhone 8 battery. So is that the current charge % rather than the Maximum Capacity % I asked for here?...
Settings > Battery > Battery Health

Thanks for your interest and your questions, but I have no idea how to know the % you ask. I am a simple user of an iPhone and the only thing I want to know is if the problem that I am observing, as a result of the 16.1.1 update, has a solution or not. If an iPhone 8 phone with a heavily used battery cannot be upgraded to 16.1.1, Apple should make it clear. Thanks for your interest and I can see myself buying a new phone.

iPhone useless on16.1.1
Battery dies quickly.
How do I remove 16.1.1 ?
This community is useless. I need answers and solutions. The only thing I receive are complaints with the same problem or worse.
Update 16.1.1 crashed my iphone 8. My phone's battery went crazy (it turns on and off whenever it wants). What's up Apple?
Plebeyo ~ Does your iPhone 8 still have its original battery?
And what's the Maximum Capacity % here?...
Settings > Battery > Battery Health

Yes. 100%
89%

Thanks. In that same Battery Health pane, is there a message saying something like: "the battery is significantly degraded"?

Yes ... I have to replace the battery ... but I think I prefer a newer and more up-to-date iPhone. It is a pity that as result of an update I have notice this issue. Thanks again,
