Extra ICloud storage expired notification

I recently bought a new iPhone and used the extra iCloud storage to transfer my data over. I’m now getting the notification saying it’s expired and that my iPhone is no longer being backed up to ICloud, except I have more than 1gb unused out of the free 5Gb they give you without having to buy more.

how do I get the notification to go away?

iPhone 11, iOS 16

Salutations Auryn360,

It sounds like with all the things iCloud backs up, plus the data syncing with iCloud it is more than 5 GB. You can check the next backup size though, to see how much space is needed. However, you also don’t have to use iCloud backups if you prefer to backup via another method.

If an alert says that there's not enough iCloud storage
1. In iOS or iPadOS, go to Settings > [your name].
2. Tap iCloud. At the top, you can check how much iCloud storage you've used.
3. Tap Manage Account Storage or Manage Storage.
4. Tap Backups, then tap the device you're using. Under Last Backup and Backup Size, you can check Next Backup Size. It may take a few minutes for your device to calculate Next Backup Size.
5. If your backup needs more space than the amount you have available in iCloud, you can:
Delete information that you don't need to reduce the size of your backup
Upgrade your iCloud+ plan to get more space

To turn off iCloud backups, so they are not being attempted any longer and therefore not showing an error, you’ll do that in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup. Be sure to make backups to a computer in that case. Here's how - How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Thanks.
