What do the grey bars on Screen Time mean?

I’m confused by the data I’m seeing on screen time. I started by wondering what the grey/gray part of the bar graph means. It seems to supposedly represent the time on my phone used by apps not in the top 3 categories for the day or week, but the numbers don’t add up!

Then I started to do the math and realized that my total app use for the day is more than twice the sum of the amounts shown in the category data.

Finally, I clicked on each category and none of them show usage data for the 10-11am time frame, which is when my phone was supposedly being used the most.

Can anyone explain what exactly Screen Time is tracking and what these graphs mean?

iPhone 12 mini, iOS 15

Hello ,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

We were able to find this:

See your report and set limits
Screen Time gives you a report showing how your device is used, apps you've opened, and websites you've visited. To see the report, go to Settings > Screen Time and tap See All Activity under the graph. From there, you can see your usage, set limits for your most used apps, and see how many times a device was picked up or received a notification.
If you turned on Share Across Devices, you can view overall usage across devices that are signed in with your Apple ID and password.

More details can be found here: Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you are still not sure, can you provide a few more details? How exactly is it not adding up? Doe the numbers and graphs not seem accurate? Also, what is your exact iOS version?

Cheers!
