How to change icloud Drive & Photo's folder location on Windows 11 Solved!!!!!!
The current icloud app for windows 11 does NOT allow you to change the defult file location for idrive & photos from C: drive. If C: drive is a SSD and smaller than your icloud storage space, your buggered, or are you?
My SSD is 240GB My online storage is 2TB never going to fit.
So here is how you repoint to another location.
- Open icloud and click on icloud settings.
- Untick iDrive and Photos
- Click on apply
- when prompted, delete from PC, Dont panic still in the cloud.
- Goto the drive your wish to store the idrive and Photos on and create two folders
- Name them iDrive and iCloud Photos
- Open Powershell and run the following two comands
- cmd /c mklink /J “C:\Users\current logged in user\iCloudDrive” “E:\iCloud Drive”
- Change the current logged in user to your windows login user name.
- Press enter.
- You should see a ‘Junction created for message
- Repeat for photos,
- cmd /c mklink /J “C:\Users\current logged in user\iCloudPhotos” “E:\iCloud Photos”
- Press enter
- You should see a ‘Junction created for message
- Go back to icloud and tick iDrive and Photos.
- Apply and close.
- I now have 20897 photo's syncing onto my E: Drive
