Can I use Apple Account balance to buy AppleCare ?

I would like to use my Apple gift card to pay for AppleCare+. As far as I understand, I have to redeem my gift card to my Apple Account balance first and then use my Apple Account to pay for things like Apple Music, etc. but can I use it for AppleCare+ instead?
