"Security" in system preferences quite's unexpectedly

System Preferences crashes every time I click on the "security" button. I can't open security from anywhere else either and I was wondering if I should re-install OS 10.6.4 or if it would be better to pay for Apple support?

iMac 27-in 3.06 GHz Intel, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Move the com.apple.security.plist and com.apple.security.revocation.plist files out of your /Library/Preferences/ folder, log out and back in, and see if the problem persists. If not, delete the moved files and press on.

My /Library/Preferences/ only has "com.apple.security.systemidentities.plist" and it didn't seem to do anything when I tried it with that.

Is that something I should have?

No, that's the system's /Library/Preferences/ folder. Yours is under your user's name (the home folder).
