Mounting a Synology NAS on Mac Monterey

I can't mount my NAS to my Mac Monterey 12.5.1 anymore.

I can still access the NAS (Synology DS212j) via the web interface all right, but cannot mount and therefore access from Finder.

On Finder I tried Go / Connect to Server / smb://192.168.xx.xxx (the NAS IP address or hostname) and I get this:

This is like a media repository I do not use often, so I am not quite sure when it stopped auto-mounting at startup; in the past 10 days it did mount at least once, so I know it's not a network / cable issue; besides I can see it via the web interface, which also rules out a DS malfunction.

Any pointers?

Updated to last version of DSM (I was still in 2013 !!!), set-up autoupdate.

The NAS now mounts using IP address (not with name, go figure)

My DiskStation has a reserved static DHCP address and shows up as DiskStation on my LAN. It is serving shares as both SMB3 and AFP over TCP/IP. I went into the Finder Windows Connect As… panel and set up the admin/pswd entry for the DiskStation and selected the Remember this password in my keychain. Once that was done, subsequent selection of the Diskstation in the Finder Windows sidebar opens a Finder window with the share present. I need to double-click that share name to get it mounted on the Desktop.

If instead, I configure the following addresses in the Finder Connect To Server… panel, then I am also a single-click with either choice from mounting the share on my Desktop:

smb://user:pswd@nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn/share
afp://DiskStation._afpovertcp._tcp.local/share
